Jammu: A major market checking drive was launched here Friday by Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) to keep check on overcharging, profiteering and unfair trade practices, ahead of Diwali festival.
A team of 27 officials headed by Athar Amin Zargar, Ankush Hans & Seema Parhiar conducted market checking of Hotels and Restaurant in different parts of city.
The team checked hygiene of kitchen, Quality of raw materials use of domestic cylinder, Quantity of food per serving, charging beyond MRP and levying of service charge. A fine of Rs. 9000/- was collected on spot from the defaulters.
It is pertinent to mentioned here that the Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan had recently taken a interdepartmental meeting and directed to start marketing drive ahead of the festival to keep check on profiteering and other unfair trade practices.
