Srinagar: Acting swiftly on the instructions of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Enforcement Wing of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) launched a massive anti-encroachment drive against illegally raised structures in the area of Dal and Nigeen lakes.
During the drive, a number of commercial establishments were demolished in the jurisdiction of police station, Rainawari which were raised in violation of the set rules.
Enforcement Officer of LAWDA said the drive to remove illegal structures and constructions in their jurisdiction will continue and elements creating hurdles in the process will be dealt under the law. He reiterated that the drive shall be intensified and carried out with elaborate arrangements and in collaboration with the concerned police stations and Srinagar Municipal Corporation in coming days.
He said public residing within the LAWDA jurisdiction are directed not to go for any sort of illegal constructions. He also said Tipper/Load carrier owners should not carry construction material in the prohibited area of Dal/Nigeen Lake without permission.
