Srinagar/Oct,6: Law enforcing authorities have imposed restrictions in several parts of Srinagar to prevent protests against growing incidents of braid chopping called by Joint Resistance Leadership after Friday prayers in the Valley.
Police said that restrictions under section 144 CrPc will remain in force on Friday in areas under the jurisdiction of Khanyar, Nowhatta, Rainawari, MR Gunj, Safa Kadal, Maisuma and Krakkhud police station in Srinagar city.
“These restrictions have been imposed to maintain law and order in the city,” police said.
Authorities have also ordered the closure of Amar Singh College and Higher Secondary school in Srinagar “as a precautionary measure”.
Dozens of incidents of braid chopping have been reported from different parts of the Valley during the last one month but nobody has been arrested.
