JKEDI organizes entrepreneurship awareness prog in Pulwama

Pulwama: The Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) conducted a special Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) at Pulwama in collaboration with J&K Bank, KVIIB and National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation.

MLA Pulwama Mohammad Khaleel Bandh and District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar were present on the occasion. The program was intended to provide an insight into the world of entrepreneurship and self-reliance to the participants.

The EAP was a part of the special series of awareness programs being conducted by the JKEDI on the instructions of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti who has listed the entrepreneurship development and self-employment among the top priorities of the Government.

The program started with the unfolding of success stories by the many young entrepreneurs which was captivating and fascinating for the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Pulwama stressed upon the youth to come forward and avail the opportunities provided by JKEDI and allied departments in order to be self-reliant and economically independent. He enjoined upon the district administration, civil society and potential entrepreneurs to work in synergy and create a favourable atmosphere in the pursuit of doing business.

The DDC said the sole aim of entrepreneurship development schemes is to make unemployed youth self-reliant and lessen their dependency on government jobs.  He appealed the youth to avail this opportunity and set up their units depending upon their feasibility and interests.

Chief Program Officer JKEDI, Dr Majid Manzoor Khan said the EAP is aimed at motivating the educated unemployed youth of the district to take up entrepreneurship as their career. The participants were briefed about the work of the institute and unemployment scenario in the State.

The participants were made aware about different entrepreneurship development schemes being implemented by the institute and other sister departments like District Industries Centre, Khadi Village Industries board and other line departments for unemployed youth.

Later, the participants interacted with officials of EDI and went for on spot registration for undergoing training before deciding to start their units.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Awantipora, General Manager DIC Pulwama, DPO ICDS Pulwama, Chief Program Officer, JKEDI, Assistant Vice President A& A.P J&K Bank, Zonal Head, J&K Bank Pulwama,  Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Revenue and other  District officers were present on the occasion.
