Srinagar: Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday shot a former panch affiliated with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Mattan area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
An official said that gunmen opened fire on Ghulam Rasool Ganaie (55) at his shop in Bon Nambal village.
“Three gunmen appeared in the village around 8pm in the evening and fired at Ganai at his shop nearby his house from point blank range,” he said.
The official said that gunmen pumped two bullets in his leg and one in chest.
“Ganai was shifted to a nearby health facility where doctors declared him as bought dead.”
Soon after the attack police, army and paramilitary forces cordoned off the area and launched searches to nab the assailants.
