Srinagar: Five militants were Monday killed in two separate cross over attempts along the line of control in North Kashmir’s Kupwara and Baramulla districts .
Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia said troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar sector in Kupwara district early Monday morning challenged a group of militants on trying to enter into this side of the line of control (LoC) and offered an opportunity to suurender. Kallia said however intruding militants fired indiscriminately on the troopers triggering heavy exchange of fire between the two sides during which one militant was killed
Saying that after search and sanitization of the areas during the day the troopers established contact with the militants in the evening, Kallia said “ two more militants were killed in the exchange of fire and three weapons were recovered from the encounter site” . He also claimed that the operation was still going on in the thick forest area in Tangdhar sector.
Col Kalia said two more militants were killed in yet another cross over attempt along the line of control (LoC) in Rampur sector in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district . He also claimed the recovery of two weapons from this encounter site, adding ‘additional deployments were rushed to the area and a massive hunt was launched in the dense forest to nab the other militants’.
