Kavinder, Priya lay foundation stone for two sanitary blocks

Jammu:  To conclude the Prime Minister’s initiative of “Swachhata Hi Seva”(Nationwide Sanitation Campaign) which was held from 15 September to 02 October amidst rememberance of  the two great leaders of India, father of nation, M.K. Gandhi and former Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri, a programme was Monday organized by Department of Floriculture at Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu.

Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta was the chief guest and Minister of State, Floriculture Gardens & Park, Priya Sethi was the guest of honour on the occasion.

Speaking at the function, Speaker congratulated the Department for this initiative. He said that the role of non-violence, peace and cleanliness in progress and development of societies across the globe has been well acknowledged by the world leaders, hence such drives and policies should become integral part of our day to day lives.

Priya Sethi also congratulated all the officers of the department including the workers/gardeners for making the sanitation campaign a grand success. She underscored the importance of cleanliness in keeping both mind and body free from ailments. She entrusted upon the citizens the responsibility of swachhta to be carried forward towards a cleaner, greener and safer environment.

On this occasion, foundation stone of two toilet blocks were laid by the Speaker in presence of Priya Sethi at Bagh-e-Bahu Garden, Jammu which would be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 23.34 lakh.

25 gardeners from Jammu division were also felicitated at the event in recognition of their hard work, commitment and devotion towards their duty.

Among others, Director Floriculture, Babila Rakwal, Project Director, I/C Bagh-e-Bahu Project, Sunil Misri, Joint Directors  Floriculture, A.K. Gupta & Pran Dullo, Dy. Director(P&S) Sukhleen Kour, Executive Engineer Floriculture, Arvind Gupta, Deputy Director, S.K. Sultan, senior officers of the department were present on the occasion.

Pertinently Director Floriculture  Babila Rakwal had taken a took special initiative this year and department  extended the sanitation drive throughout the Jammu Division .She visited each and every park personally to monitor  cleanliness drive
