Srinagar: Police on Thursday blamed militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) for the killing of off-duty Border Security Force (BSF) man Rameez Ahmad Parrey in Hajin area of Bandipora district.
Parray was killed when suspected militants barged into his house at Parray Mohalla Hajan on Wednesday night. His four other family members including his father were critically wounded as they reportedly argued with the suspected militants to save the slain BSF man.
Nitish Kumar, the outgoing DIG North Kashmir while talking to reporters at Baramulla held LeT commander Mehmood Bhai responsible for this killing. He said Mehmood Bhai was accompanied by few more militants.
Mehmood Bhai is currently active in Baramulla district where he is heading a group of militants. Last month, he managed to break the cordon at Parray Mohalla.
“We have reports that Mehmood Bhai accompanied by few militants entered into the BSF man’s house and killed him while injuring others,” Kumar said.
Director General of Police Dr SP Vaid said that: “3 to 4 militants came to the BSF jawan’s residence and started shooting. He was dragged out of his house and shot,” said Vaid.
