Jammu: The Sub-Committee on Public Undertakings of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Wednesday visited the units and took stock of facilities at various Industrial estates of Jammu division.
The LA panel chairman Raja Manzoor Ahmed and member Abdul Majeed Larmi, inspected the land area, roads and other facilities at Industrial Estates and also took stock of the number of local skilled and unskilled workers employed by these industrial units.
Managing Director SICOP R L Tiku, General Manager Rajesh Pandoh, Deputy Secretary, LA, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, Project Engineer Rajan Sharma and Shabir Ahmed accompanied the committee members who visited Industrial Estates at Gangyal and Kathua.
The committee inspected Pencil and colour manufacturing unit Kokoya Camblin, Quilt, Mattress, Pilows manufacturing unit Anand Polythene Pvt. Ltd. And Glass reprocessing unit Shakti Glass at Gangyal.
At Kathua industrial Estate, the committee members inspected Jackons ltd industry, Fena ltd. Industry, Nicer paper ltd. Industry.
A delegation of Kathua Industrial Unit Association, comprising president Ajit Bawa, Vice president Vinay Mahajan, General Secretary Sandeep Mittal, Secretary Abhishek Mahajan also met with the Committee members.
The chairman Raja Manzoor Ahmed said the committee has visited Jammu for taking stock of land, roads and other facilities in the industrial estates as also the number of locals employed by the industrial units.
He called upon the UInit holders to give preference to local skilled and unskilled workers while engaging workforce for their industries. He called upon industrialists to extend full cooperation in dealing with the rising unemployment among the youth.
