Sham Choudhary visits GMC Jmu, meets cross-border firing victims

Jammu: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary Saturday visited Government Medical College, Jammu to enquire about the condition of recent cross border firing victi

The Minister interacted with the victims hailing from Satowali, Jagowal and Shekhpur in Suchetgarh and assured them that every possible help would be provided to them by the government.

The Minister directed the hospital management to remain vigilant, especially during night hours so that injured persons can be attended properly. He further asked them to maintain sufficient stock of drugs and first aid equipments in the hospital besides keeping adequate number of ambulances on stand-by for shifting the injured patients to the hospital.

The Minister also visited the native villages of the victims and informed the villagers about the temporary shelters identified by the administration. He asked them to immediately shift to these safe havens and inform the security forces about any suspicious activity in their area.

Later, the Minister convened a meeting with the officers of various departments including PDD, Health Department, Animal Husbandry Department, PHE, I&FC Department and security agencies.

The Minister enquired about the facilities being provided in the temporary shelter locations including power and water supply, sanitation facilities, medical aid and communication syste

The Minister directed the Health Department to station ambulances at the vital locations to shift the victims to the hospital immediately and asked Animal Husbandry Department to provide free medicines to people whose livestock is injured in the firing.

The Minister was informed that temporary shelters have been setup at Bana Singh Stadium, Boys Higher Secondary School RS Pura, Girls Higher Secondary School Miran Sahib, ITI RS Pura, Boys Higher Secondary School Kotli Shah Doula, Govt High School Chohala, Boys Middle School Purana Pind, Social Welfare Complex RS Pura, City Middle School RS Pura, Rameshwar Dham Kotli Gala Bana, Boys Middle School and Girls Middle School at Mill Area, RS Pura.
