Jammu: At least two civilians were injured while more than 100 shifted to safer locations in view of heavy shelling by the Pakistan on the international border in Arnia sector of Jammu.
A man and his wife sustained splinter injuries in an overnight firing in Jeora Farm of Arnia, police sources here Thursday said.
They said more than 100 people have been shifted from Jeora Farm in Suchetgarh area of R S Pura to safer locations identified by the district administration.
“There are reports that BSF effectively responded to the firing while Pakistan has suffered a huge damage in retaliatory firing,” the sources said and added that the exchange of fire stopped early morning.
According to Army figures, till August 1, there were 285 such violations by the Pakistan Army, while in 2016, the number was 228 for the entire year.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh during his recent visit to Jammu said since 2014, Pakistan every year violates ceasefire agreement for more than 400 times.
