Jammu: An Assistant Sub Inspector among two were killed as militants attacked the SSB camp near Jawahar Tunnel in Banihal area of Ramban district in Jammu and Kashmir.
“The 14th Battalion of SSB is located at Sangaldan in Banihal and our men were on routine job to guard the under construction railway track near Jawahar Tunnel in Banihal when militants struck this evening,” a SSB official here said.
He said that one head constable R P Yadav got martyred in the attack, adding, “Injured ASI identified as Shan Singh succumbed to his injuries later.
” “Some injuries are also reported but more details are awaited,” he added.
On Keran border an army soldier was killed and three others were injured in a ‘sniper fire’ by Pakistan Rangers at Keran sector along the Line of Control in north Kashmir Kupwara district on Tuesday.
A senior police officer told news agency GNS that Pakistan Rangers in “violation of ceasefire” opened the sniper fire at 5/9 GR unit of the army near ‘Pimple post’ in Keran sector along the LoC. Four soldiers were injured and airlifted to army’s 92-base hospital at Badamibagh here, the officer said.
One of the injured identified as Rajesh Khatri was declared brought dead by the doctors who attended upon him at hospital, an army officer confirmed to GNS.
He said that army retaliated the fire and the exchange of fire continued for an hour.
