Srinagar: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh led Congress delegation arrived in Srinagar on Saturday for a series of meetings on the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Hours after reaching the state’s summer capital Manmohan Singh along with Ghulam Nabi Azad and others held an Extended Executive Meeting, added the report. The delegation of National Conference leaders met Congress delegation led by Manmohan Singh in Srinagar. The Congress delegation will be in the Valley for two days for talks with party leaders and workers, trade associations and civil societies, said sources. Congress state unit president G A Mir on Friday said,”The panel completed the first leg of its tour in Jammu on September 10 and 11. It will now visit Srinagar for a fresh round of talks” .“Members of Jammu Bar Association, Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kashmiri Pandit migrants and West Pakistan refugees are among the delegations scheduled to call on the group in Jammu on Sunday,” party sources said.
Apart from Singh and Azad, the delegation comprises of former Finance minister P Chidambaram, and AICC general secretary Ambika Soni. The team will also meet members of other political parties, Mir added. The panel was formed in April this year after the situation in the Valley worsened because of widespread violence by agitators during the Srinagar Lok Sabha bypolls. According to a statement issued by the party, the panel also plans to later visit the Ladakh.
