Jmu’s illogical discriminatory charges on recruitments

Now a days the newspapers in Jammu are flooded with the reports of discrimination in the recruitments against Public Service Commission (PSC) and Higher Education Department, but figures reveal the fact that candidates from Kashmir are over and above their contemporaries of Jammu region in both merit and performance in various stages of recruitment processes. The discriminatory charges could not even impress the Union Home Minister who received some complaints from some delegations. Jammuities need to be told in categorical terms the candidates from Kashmir are excelling even in several competitive examinations held by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) , Staff Selection Commission (SSC) and several other recruiting agencies of the central government. Let the complainants of Jammu count the kashmiri All India Service qualifiers of both Kashmir and Jammu division before accusing the state government’s recruiting agencies of discriminating candidates of Jammu division. Ironically the people of Jammu division are alleging that majority of the candidates from Kashmir were shortlisted for interviews and recruited for the post of teacher under J&K Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) scheme. Since academic merit of the candidates or the performance of the applicants in the written tests is the only criteria for short listing of candidates for interviews in case of the government recruitments it is understood that candidates from Kashmir valley would have dominated their contemporaries of Jammu region in academic merit to find their names in the list of candidates shortlisted for interviews.

When a Jammu centric party BJP is sharing power in the state the Jammuities are accusing the bureaucrats of engineering discrimination in selection majority of whom again again are from Jammu but not complaining before the BJP ministers who claim to be the champions of the protection of political and institutional interests of Jammuities.

Interestingly the newspaper in Jammu have quoted sources (unnamed people) but not the concerned officials as saying that while recruitment agencies in state like J&K Services Selection Board (JKSSB) and J&K State Public Service Commission (J&K PSC) call candidates for interview as per ratio of 1:3 or 1:5, RMSA did not follow such criteria in the recruitment of the recently appointed teachers. The complaints of Jammu are just speculating and shutting eyes from narrating the factually correct figures which show that RMSA has followed the same ratio for short listing of candidates which is being adopted by J&K Services Selection Board (J&K SSB) and J&K State Public Service Commission (J&K PSC) the two premier recruiting agencies of the state government. Even against the J&K Public Service Commission (J&K PSC) the poor performing candidates of Jammu alleged that in the selection of Assistant Professors by the Public Service Commission, majority of candidates from Kashmir province were selected and candidates of Jammu province were totally ignored. Several times the J&K Public Service Commission has made it clear that higher merit and performance was the only criteria for the selection of candidates before the commission. Now when a Jammu centric party BJP is sharing power in the state the Jammuities are accusing the bureaucrats of engineering discrimination in selection majority of whom again again are from Jammu but not complaining before the BJP ministers who claim to be the champions of the protection of political and institutional interests of Jammuities.
