NIA raids on the residences of Aga Hassan, Sumji, Several others in Kashmir parts

Srinagar: India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) continued its raids in a case related to alleged funding in Kashmir Valley for the second consecutive day on Thursday.
The house and office of senior separatist leader Aga Syed Hasan Almosvi Alsafvi, who also heads socio-religious organization Anjuman Shari Shian were raided in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district early Thursday morning.
NIA team accompanied by a police party entered into the house of Aga Hasan and conducted a search operation there. Locals as well as journalists were not allowed to move towards the house. However reports saod followers of senior Hurriyat (G) leader and head of Anjuman Shaere Shiyan Agha Hassan Thursday night forced the sleuths of National Investigation Agency to leave from his residence.NIA sleuths accompanied by police and central forces raided again late in the evening hours the residence of prominent Shia cleric in Budgam. The followers of Agha Hassan marched to his residence while shouting slogans in favour of Islam and against the NIA. They were raising slgans like ‘Agha Sahab kadam badav hum tumhare saath hain’ and ‘NIA ki manmanian nahi chalegi nahi chalegi”.
Reports said that NIA sleuths hurriedly left the residence of Agha after protests intensified.
NIA team also raided the residence of Zameer Ahmad Sheikh at Gulshan Nagar Nowgam, Srinagar.
Zameer is a member of Democratic Freedom Party led by Shabir Shah who is languishing in Tihar jail, Delhi after arrested by ED on July 25.
NIA also raided residences of several pro-freedom leaders including Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Shakeel Bakhshi and Showkat Bakhshi.
The fresh NIA raids in Kashmir followed the announcement of resistance leaders to court arrest at NIA headquarters in New Delhi on September 9.
NIA is investigating a case of alleged funding in Kashmir registered on May 30.
Reports said that a raid was conducted by NIA team at the joint residence of JKLF leader Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi and his brother Shakeel Ahmad Bakhshi in Bemina area of Srinagar. Shakeel heads the Islamic Student’s League (ISL).
Earlier in the day NIA teams raided the residences of Hurriyat (G) leaders, Ghulam Nabi Sumji in Bijbehara and Syed Agha Hassan in Budgam. Sources said that a team of NIA alongwith a contingent of police and other forces raided the residence of Sumji and started searches.
National Investigation Agency (NIA) also raided the office of a chartered accountant at Hyderpora in Srinagar and residences of two businessmen in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, sources said.
They said that teams of NIA raided Al-Hyder Complex at Hyderpora and two residential houses in Kralepora area of North Kashmir.
Seven pro-freedom leaders, a businessman and two youth including a photojournalist have already been arrested by the Indian investigation agency in connection of the case.
Another Hurriyat leader and a businessman have been arrested by Enforcement Directorate (ED). Eight of the arrested persons are languishing in Tihar jail, Delhi while as four are in NIA and ED custody.
