Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police constable, who resigned from the organization through Facebook, has been detained, official sources said.
However, police has yet to confirm the arrest of constable Rayees Ahmad Sheikh, whose video on Facebook went viral after announcing his resignation on the “call of conscience”.
Sheikh in the video said he was resigning since he could not see people being killed in the valley.
Police has not received any resignation letter from Sheikh and has been detained to check about the fact of video besides what prompted him to resign on Facebook .
Sheikh, in the video on Facebook had said, “My conscience would also question me if it is right for me to see the streams of blood that are flowing here. I had no answer to this question then, nor do I have now. But this question has continued to pinch me inside.”
A number of police personnel and Army jawans had deserted their units and joined militant outfit in the Kashmir valley. A number of them have since been killed or captured by the security forces.
