DF&CO takes action against 22 firms for violation of norms

Jammu: Drugs & Food Control Organization (DF&CO) has disallowed operations of twenty two firms by suspending their licenses for violation of the provisions of Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 & rules there under.

As per a DF&CO spokesperson, a team constituted by   Controller, Drugs & Food Control Organization, J&K  Lotika Khajuria, under the supervision of Assistant Drug Controllers  Mohammad Iqbal Pala & Renuka Raina, carried out surprise checking  of more than  seventy retail  sale outlets  situated in the rural belts  of  Jammu District  viz Kahna Chak, Gho Manhasa, Marh, Gajansoo, R.S Pura, Dablehar, Moola Chak, Biaspur, Bishnah and Arnia.

“During the special drive action against twenty two firms was initiated for indulging in unethical trade practices and committing breaches of the provisions of Drugs & Cosmetics Act, 1940 & rules there under.  Operation of such firms was disallowed on spot and their licenses were suspended for violation of the provisions of the Act, in larger public interest” the spokesperson said.

He also informed that statutory drug samples of more than thirty formulations viz Antibiotics, PPI, Steroid, NSAIDs etc were lifted to check the identity, strength and purity of these drugs. “The samples have been referred to State Drug Testing Laboratories for framing legal opinion to ascertain their quality parameters to ensure that quality medicines are made available to the general public” he added.

Meanwhile, DF&CO impressed upon the dealers to ensure that vaccines are stored between 2°C to 8°C and not be frozen. All lyophilized vaccines should be stored between 2°C to 8°C and for long term storage can be kept at or below -20°C or otherwise as specified in the individual monographs. The firms found violating the above norms would be taken to task & their licenses were suspended.

The firms whose operations were disallowed & licenses suspended  are M/s Suresh  Medical Hall, Sangrampur ; M/s Pushap Medicare Center, Nagbani  Morh, Jammu ; M/s Prince Medicos, Near High School Gajansoo, Jammu ; M/s S.M Medicate, Punnu De Hatti (Marh) ; M/s Shanker Medical Hall, Lale da Bagh,Gajansoo Road, Jammu ; M/s Hari Medicos, Akalpur Chowk, Lower Muthi ; M/s Siya Medicos, Lahari Chak, Marh ; M/s Rama Medical Center ,Gho Manhasa ; M/s Bawa Medical Hall, Subash Nagar; M/s Navjeevan Medicos, Subash Nagar ; M/s Hari Om Medical Shop, Biaspur ; M/s Public Medicos, Dablehar, R.S. Pura; M/s Neelam Medicos, Biaspur, R.S. Pura, M/s Om Medical Hall, Dablehar, R.S. Pura, M/s Mela Medical Hall, Dablehar, R.S. Pura, M/s Jojra Medical Hall, Dablehar road Khamb, R.S. Pura,  M/s Baldhotra Medical Hall, Khamb, R.S.
