Sinha’s aimless exercise

As people of all shades know that several civil society groups of the country including the one headed by senior BJP leader and former Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha have lost credence due to denial of recognition by the central government. Despite knowing all about its aimless exercise the civil society group headed by Yashwant Sinha has released yet another report and people as expected are not showing any interest in debating the second report of the Sinha led group on the prevailing situation in Kashmir. The exercise undertaken by Sinha led group as expected has not brought even any attitudinal change in the handling of the prevailing situation in Kashmir by the central government. Ironically the time when Sinha led group released its second report on prevailing situation in Kashmir the joint separatist leadership is grappling with the challenges thrown up by the continuing raids of National Investigative Agency (NIA) on the people suspected to be involved in the funding of stone pelting and militancy related activities in the state . So in presence of curbs and raids on the separatist leaders and their followers no fact finding report or initiative even if it comes directly from the central government can calm down the rising tempers in Kashmir valley. No doubt Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is arriving on a three day visit to Jammu & Kashmir shortly but for reviewing the law and order situation and the political response to the continuing raids on separatist leaders and their followers on charges of involvement in illegal funding of stone pelting and militancy related activities in the state. So the motives of the visit of Home Minister Rajnath Singh is in itself an indication that the ground work of none of the civil society groups including the one headed by Yashwant Sinha is going to bring about any change in the policy of the incumbent central government on situation in Kashmir valley.

The exercise undertaken by Sinha is neither responded well by the central government nor taken serious by the main political stake holders in Kashmir and so Yashwant Sinha has no reasons to continue the exercise he is undertaking in Kashmir.

The central government as is evident from its actions does not show any change in its military approach pursued to deal with the current situation in Kashmir and instead shows its tendencies of non cooperation with the Mehbooba government on judicial and constitutional aggressions facing the people of Jammu & Kashmir on article 35 A and article 370 in the supreme court of the country. Mehbooba government of which BJP the ruling party at the centre is a part in Jammu & Kashmir is not getting the support it needs to pursue cases against Article 35A of the Indian Constitution in the supreme court of the country. Yashwant Sinha himself a BJP leader as head of a civil group coming to Kashmir for political engagements with the main stake holders in the state needs to explain that when Modi government does not given even recognition to his group what prompts him to visit Kashmir again and again for holding consultations with the political stake holders in the state? The exercise undertaken by Sinha is neither responded well by the central government nor taken serious by the main political stake holders in Kashmir and so Yashwant Sinha has no reasons to continue the exercise he is undertaking in Kashmir.
