Samba: District Development Commissioner, , Sheetal Nanda Wednesday chaired the meeting of District Level Review and Consultative Committee to review the progress and performance of banks in key areas related to deposits, advances and priority sector lending for the quarter ending June, 2017.
The DDC asked banks to provide lending to one beneficiary per branch in each quarter under ‘Differential Rate of Interest Scheme’ for extending financial assistance to low income groups. She added that banks should publicize incentives like concession to women borrowers in ‘Rate of Interest’ to improve credit flow to them.
She said beneficiaries should not depend solely on interest subvention schemes and government departments should pursue non sponsored cases too. She specifically directed Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Horticulture departments to explore possibilities for farm mechanization, infrastructure up gradation and explore financial assistance in consultation with banks. The DLRCC asked banks to pay more focus on Joint Liability and Self Help Groups as studies have proved that they are more secure and less prone to be ‘Non performing Asset’.
Earlier, Lead Bank Manager, Satish Sharma apprised participants that CD ratio of district was 43.90% and priority sector advances are 60.43 % to total credit in Samba District. DDM NABARD, Surinder Singh informed that NABARD shall be organizing mega awareness camps every month in collaboration with banks and line departments. He said continuous credit flow is must for achieving the aim of doubling farm income by the year 2022.
LDO RBI, Abhilasha Diwakar, GM DIC Varinder Manyal and district heads of banks and government departments were also present in the meeting.
