Handwara/Srp,5: Life remained paralysed in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday due to a spontaneous shutdown against the killings of two Hizb militants in a gunfight yesterday.
Pervez Ahmad Wani of Galoora Handwara and Nayeem Ahmad Najar of Brath Kalan Sopore were killed in a gunfight with government forces in Shangar gund area of Sopore yesterday.
Both the slain militants were laid to rest yesterday at the ancestral graveyards in their native villages amid pro-militant and pro-freedom slogans.
All the shops and other business establishments are closed in Handwara town while thin movement of public transport was reported.
Cellular and Internet services barred yesterday were restored in Baramulla district late last night.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people were seen heading towards the villages to offer fateha (prayer) to the slain militants and express solidarity with their families.
