Rohtak/ New Delhi: Gurmeet Ram Rahim had planned to escape the court if convicted, with the help of his security men, the police has reveled. The red bag he used was a signal for his supporters to start violence and distract security officials. However, the police used sensed the plan and foiled it by opting for different car and route.
Meanwhile Jagdeep Singh, the Special CBI judge who sentenced Ram Rahim Singh to twenty years’ imprisonment for rape, has been granted Z+ security
Singh and his family reportedly received threatening calls from supporters of the Dera Sacha Sauda, the organisation headed by the convicted godman. Consequently, a total of 55 policemen, including 10 NSG commandos have been assigned to protect the judge.
Supporters of the Dera wreaked havoc in and around the state of Haryana following the conviction of their leader. A total of 36 people were reportedly killed in the wake of the protests, with many more injured.
Singh had sentenced Ram Rahim to 10 years rigorous imprisonment along with Rs. 15 lakh fine for rape of each of the two victims. These two sentences will run consecutively.
Thus, he will have to undergo twenty years imprisonment. Besides, he has also been awarded two years rigorous imprisonment along with fine of Rs. 10,000 (with respect to the both the victims) under Section 506 of the Indian Penal Code which prescribes punishment for criminal intimidation. This sentence, it is understood, will run concurrently with the sentence under Section 376.
