2 killed, 5 injured in road accident in Doda village

Jammu/Sep,1: Two persons were killed and five others seriously injured when a passenger vehicle they were traveling on plunged into a gorge near Jangalwar village of Thathri tehsil in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

Reports said a vehicle, bearing registration number JK06-3384, was on its way from Phagsoo village to Thathri when it met with an accident near Jangalwar village, 41 km from Doda town at 8.15 am.

The villagers immediately shifted all the passengers to Community Health Centre (CHC) Thathri, where doctors declared two of them as brought dead.

“According to reports, the driver perhaps lost control over the vehicle due to slippery road conditions on the slope near Jangalwar village on Thathri – Phagsoo road and the vehicle rolled down into 150-feet-deep gorge into a nullah,” said SDM Thathri Mohd Anwar Banday.

The deceased included the driver of the ill-fated vehicle, he said, adding that five seriously injured were shifted to Trauma Hospital Thathri where from two of them were shifted to District Hospital Doda.

The deceased were identified as Ghulam Ali Malik (65) and Mohd Ashraf (32), son of Mohd Sharief – both residents of Phagsoo.

The injured were identified as Sadam Hussain, son of Afzal Sheikh, resident of Nandana, Mohd Farooq Tantray Son of Jalal Din Tantray Resident of Khanpura, Shabir Ahmed (32) Son of Ghulam Qadir Resident of Khatara, Touseef Gani Son of Shamas Din Resident of Jangalwar and Javed Iqbal Son of Abdul Rashied Resident of Nandana.
