Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday said that the families of Kashmiri civilians subjected to enforced disappearance are living in unending trauma and grief since 1990.
“On international day of the disappeared #Kashmir awaits Justice as around 10,000 civilians have been subjected to enforced disappearances since 1990 by govt forces, for thousands of families trauma and grief of this inhuman act continues, as they don’t know where their loved ones are (sic),” Mirwaiz wrote on Twitter.
Rights groups says over 8000 persons have disappeared in the custody of government forces since 1990.
The families of those disappeared staged a sit-in protest in Srinagar Wednesday to remind the world of their miseries.
