Handwara: Government Degree College Handwara teachers Wednesday alleged that they were thrashed by Forces personnel who according to them barged into the college and targeted students as well as them.
According to teachers, Government Forces resorted to indiscriminate tear-smoke shelling after the College students staged a protest against the killing of their college student in a fake encounter.
Pertinently, Shahid Bashir Mir was killed by Army in alleged fake encounter in Hefdara forest of Handwara town in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Scores of students amid pro-freedom slogans staged a protest and demanded action against the army personnel responsible for his killing. However, Government Forces swung into action and fired tear-gas shells to disperse the protesting students.
“There was chaos and confusion. During the melee several students were wounded,” said a teacher adding that government forces manhandled many teachers of the college.
