Jammu: Divisional Commissioner, Dr M K Bhandari convened a high level meeting to review the traffic scenario in Jammu City here Wednesday.
Emphasizing on better traffic management, Div Com asked the concerned authorities to take all requisite measures to take up de-congestion of traffic in the region.
Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Commissioner JMC, M Raju, , Vice Chairman JDA, R.K Sharma , SSP Jammu, Sunil Gupta, SSP Traffic, Nisha Nathyal, SP Traffic Rural , Shaheen Wahid , RTO Jammu, Deep Raj besides senior functionaries of various departments attended the meeting.
Stressing on maintaining synergy between concerned agencies, Divisional Commissioner directed the authorities to maintain coordination to ensure smooth traffic movement.
Div Com directed the officials to construct additional passenger sheds and other facilities to avoid inconvenience to the commuters. He further directed them to identify areas for construction of dividers for facilitating directional flow of traffic and submit an inclusive report in this regard.
He directed enhanced vigil on traffic violators through regular checking and asked the officials to put in place a comprehensive mechanism to tackle the menace of over speeding besides generating awareness among the people regarding traffic rules.
Div Com directed for completion of blacktopping of the left out roads and filling of potholes to ensure road safety.
The meeting was also informed about the status of removal of encroachments and maintenance of bus stops.
