Doklam standoff: We’ve learnt that you aren’t all powerful, Omar to China

Srinagar: Reacting to China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) asking India to “draw lessons” from the over 70-day Doklam standoff, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said India has learnt that China was not all powerful. “We’ve learnt. We’ve learnt that you aren’t all powerful. We’ve learnt that if we hold an advantage we can get you to blink first. Thank you,” Mr Abdullah, who is also the working president of main opposition, the National Conference, tweeted yesterday. Meanwhile, lauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his team for getting ‘the better of China’ in the Dokalam standoff, Mr Abdullah said it is all the more remarkable because it was done without any chest thumping and bluster. “India getting the better of China is all the more remarkable because it was done without any chest thumping & bluster. Kudos PM Modi and team,” he tweeted. Mr Abdullah said the return to status quo a victory for India and Mr Modi. “But isn’t the return to status quo a victory for India & PM Modi? It was China that wanted to alter the ground position with the road work,” he said. Troops of both the countries were locked in a standoff in Dokalam from the last two months after Indian Army stopped China from building a road in the disputed area.
