Rajouri: Minister for Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs and Information, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said the government has undertaken a slew of developmental projects to transform Peeri into a central place in the region for trade and commerce.  He was speaking in a public meeting here Monday at Peeri, convened to have a firsthand knowledge of day to day issues being faced by the public.

People who came from Peeri and adjoining areas projected multitude of developmental issues and requested for time bound redress of their issues. They also demanded up-gradation of schools, Degree College at Peeri, ambulance for Public Health Centre(PHC), Rajouri-Peeri bus service, fencing of school buildings, foot bridges across rivulets for safe passage of students and provisions of electric poles, wires and transformers. They also requested for macadamization of main and link roads, sub-centers of animal and sheep husbandry departments at Peeri, primary school at Nagus.

The Minister assured the public for early redress of their genuine issues. He said the Government has already undertaken a slew of important development projects in the region to transform it into a central place and a commercial hub. “To begin with, infrastructure for Girls’ Hostel, Block Development Council, Food Store and Tehsil Supply Office is being created,” he said, adding the Rajouri-Peeri road, link roads and roads connecting the area with Proori, Darhal and Koteranka would be macadamized and developed on priority. He also assured that an ambulance would be provided for PHC Peeri within a week time.

The Minister passed a host of directions to the departments for expediting the pace of developmental works in the area. He asked Executive Engineer PWD to start macadamization of Rajouri-Peeri road once the monsoon is over and ensure its timely completion.

The concerned junior engineer of PDD was also directed to erect all electric poles which were provided to the people three months back and project a consolidated figure of more poles required in the area through Executive Engineer PDD.

Zulfkar Ali also impressed upon the revenue officials that no project should be put on halt for want of land. They were also asked to regularly check the attendance of the employees of other departments within their jurisdiction so as to ensure the punctuality and work culture in the government offices.
