Srinagar: Life came to a grinding halt in parts of north Kashmir district of Bandipora due to a strike against killing of a youth, whose headless body was fished out from river Jhelum this morning.
Shops and business establishments, which remain open on Sundays, were closed and traffic was off the road in Hajin and adjoining areas in Bandipora. The locals said that the strike is being observed to press for an inquiry into the killing of the youth.
Headless body of a youth, Muzafar Ahmad Parray, who went missing from his home in Sumbal since August 24, was fished out from river Jhelum in north Kashmir district of Bandipora “Parray was lodged in a local police station in a stone pelting case for the last three months. He was released just 20 days back,” official sources said. Police have registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident.
