Jammu: Police today launched search operation here on city outskirts on general inputs of suspicious movement while private schools remained shut as preventive measure in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
“We had general inputs from the locals of suspicious movement in the border villages following which a thorough search operation was launched in Miran Sahib area,” Ramesh Kotwal, Superintendent of Police, Headquarters Jammu here said.
He said that searches were conducted in Simbal, Maralian and Miran Sahib areas, adding, “nothing substantial was found as of now and the operation was called off.”
He said that police and Army conducted a joint search operation as preventive measure to rule out presence of any suspects.
Meanwhile some of the private schools were also closed in Udhampur district after two of the Army schools were shut as preventive measure.
“There was some rumours of security threat in the area due to which Army closed two of their schools,” police spokesman here said.
He said that no official order regarding closure of schools was issued by the district administration but some of the private institutions shutdown the schools on their own call.
However, alert has also been sounded across Jammu region.
