Srinagar: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti Friday directed the Health & Medical Education Department to ensure availability of all essential medicine at the hospitals besides rendering selfless service by the medicos.
The Chief Minister was reviewing the progress on key projects of Health Department besides medical supplies and other services by the Department.
Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat; Minister for Finance, Dr. Haseeb Drabu and Minister of State for Health & Medical Education, Asiea Naqash were present in the meeting.
Mehbooba Mufti directed the Department to ensure that the respective Heads purchase the requisite medicine from the Medical Supplies Corporation well in time and in no case should the delays or shortages be countenanced.
The Chief Minister also expressed dismay over the non functioning of Super Speciality Hospital, Srinagar and the state of affairs at the Jammu Super Specialty Hospital. She directed redoubling of efforts to make both the hospitals properly function at the earliest. She also directed improving the cleanliness level at the G B Pant Hospital for better results.
Mehbooba Mufti reviewed the pace of setting up one model hospital in each constituency with improved facilities and specialisation. She also directed pacing up work on several trauma hospitals on the National Highway so that the injured don’t have to travel long distances for specialised treatment.
The Chief Minister also directed optimal usage of health centres at Sanatnagar, Chanapora and Eidgah by augmenting the facilities and manpower, thereby reducing the burden on tertiary care hospitals. She also asked for rationalisation of super specialists and specialists for better patient care and service delivery at District Hospitals.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the pace of work on the five Medical Colleges being set up in the State. She was informed that the land acquisition process in case of two AIIMS in the State is in the advanced stage and a large chunk of land at both these places stands already transferred. Besides, some preliminary works like water supply, power, road connectivity etc have either been started or are about to be started at these two places.
Mehbooba Mufti directed setting up of a committee for searching staff for these Medical colleges and AIIMSs so that time is not delayed in operationalising these institutes.
The Chief Minister was informed that creation of staff for the five Medical colleges and many Nursing Colleges in the State is in the advanced stage and would be done before the completion of works at these institutes.
The Chief Minister also reviewed the work progress on some key projects like 200 bedded Hospital at Gandhi Nagar and Bemina which, she was informed, are in final stages of completion. She also reviewed the status of Unani Hospital at Ganderbal and Ayurvedic College at Jammu which too are progressing towards completion. She was informed that the PET Scan facility at the SKIMS would be made functional by the end of this year.
