Jammu: A constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police was suspended and legal action initiated against him by the department after a video clip of him taking money from a beggar sitting along the roadside in Ramban district went viral. ‘’Action has been initiated against accused cop identified as Head Constable Munawar Hussain, hailing from Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district,’’ an official here today said. He said that due to his notorious activities, he was transferred from Kishtwar to Ramban, adding, ‘’his spouse and son had also been to Ramban to keep eye on his activities.’’ ‘’In view of his notorious activities, his salary account is being carried on by his son and wife,’’ police officer said and added that he was also under close surveillance for the last one-week for reformation, but he instead unauthorisedly got absent. ‘’Soon after his video went viral on social media, the Constable was taken into custody and got medically examined in which it was found that he was under the influence of alcohol,’’ said the officer. The cop had been booked under various sections at different police stations of Kishtwar.
