Kupwara: Member Parliament and Chairman, District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), Kupwara, Muzaffar Hussein Baig Friday reviewed developmental works taken under Action Plan 2016-2017 in the district.

Baig, who represents Baramulla/Kupwara constituency in the Lok Sabha chaired a review meeting of DISHA partners and implementing agencies to review the progress under Action Plan in Kupwara during second meeting of DISHA.

The meeting reviewed physical and financial scenario of schemes such as MG NAREGA, PMGSY, CRF, SSA, RMSA, DDUGJY, ICTS, NHM, NSAP, SBM-G, SBM, NRLM, PMAY-G, PMUY and other Centrally-sponsored schemes through detailed powerpoint presentation by the planning section under the DDC Kupwara Khalid Jahangir.

Baig urged the district officers and agencies involved in execution and implementation of these schemes to ensure that equitable development takes place in Baramulla-Kupwara belt which has suffered neglect due to its proximity with the border and the lack of accessibility that prevented major developmental works in the region.

He said the ongoing projects taken up under different central schemes must be completed on time. He directed the District Development Commissioner, who is monitoring the DISHA implementation, to prepare a report on overall progress achieved in these schemes at district level under Action Plan 2016-2017 and priorities for 2017-2018.

Urging the officers to take concerned public representatives into confidence while initiating  developmental works in their respective constituencies, he asked the executing agencies and implementing partners under DISHA to regularly inspect these works so that the progress on ground can be tracked. “For this purpose the DDC Kupwara must take review meetings of different sectors and inspect these projects,”  Baig said.

During the meeting, it was given out that 87796 IHHL units were targeted for 2013-19 of which 15461 units were completed during 2016-17 while 32000 IHHL units have been taken up by Panchyat Raj institutions. Rs 547.90 lakh were made available to the district of which 98.16 lakhs stands utilised till July-2017. Officials said 537 IHHL units are under execution in which 72 are completed and under Community Sanitary Complexes in towns, Rs 14 lakhs stands have been released for construction of six CSCs while under ICDS, Rs 19 crores have been spent under DISHA, covering 23180 infants till July-2017. It was decided that the District Administration in collaboration with Rural Development Department and ICDS would provide Rs 7 lakhs under Convergence Plan to meet some urgent tasks.

Reviewing the power scenario, the officers said for renovation, modernization and augmentation of 33/11 kv receiving stations, Rs 14.78 crores stands released for Kupwara and Handwara towns. Seven villages are being covered under Rural Electrification Scheme DUGJY while Machil, Karen and Teethwal receiving stations will be upgraded by November this year at a cost of Rs 108.72 crore.

Under SSA, 2897 school buildings have been completed while under RMSA 22 high school and 10 middle and other school buildings have been renovated and four girls hostels are under construction by the Public Works Department. The meeting was further informed that during 2016-17, 26 lakh man days of work was generated for 86000 job card holders who have been registered for 100 days of work in the district, besides others.

Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Mir Fayaz Ahmad, MLA Langate, Er Rashid, MLA Kupwara, Bashir Ahmad Dar and MLA Kerna, Raja Manzoor Ahmad Khan besides officers of other departments were present in the meeting. Joint Director Planning (District Administration), Kupwara Imtiyaz Ahmad presented vote of thanks at the end of the meeting.
