Dy CM for speedy implementation of new initiatives in power sector

Srinagar: Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh Friday asked for coordinated efforts for the successful implementation of the initiatives undertaken for the power sector so that the Prime Minister’s vision of providing un-interrupted power supply to every town and village of the country is realized.

The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking a review meeting convened to discuss the status of power sector related programs including the 11th plan under Re-DDUGJY (Din Dayal Uphadaya Gram Jyoti Karan Yojana)  / DDUGJY and Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) under PFA  (Power for All) and UDAY Schemes in J&K.

It was attended by Principal Secretary PDD, Chairman and Managing Director REC Limited, Executive Director PGCIL, Executive Director DDUGJY, Executive Director NHPC, CEO REC PDCL, Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation, Development Commissioner Power, Secretary Technical PDD, Chief Engineers and other senior officers.

The Deputy Chief Minister asked the officers to synergize their efforts in order to ensure that the schemes meant to augment the power sector in the state are completed within the stipulated time lines so that the adequate supply of electricity can be provided to the consumers of the state. He said these would also ensure that the un-electrified villages and areas are also provided with the requisite power.

Dr. Singh said the Prime Minister has been kind enough to provide liberal funding to the state under power sector and now the onus lies on us to ensure that it is utilized properly and the schemes being covered under the same are completed within the stipulated time lines. He said these schemes would be a game changer in providing un-interrupted power supply to the state besides also ensuring that the transmission and generation of electricity in the state.

The Deputy Chief Minister also asked the officers and the Project Implementing and Monitoring Agencies (PIAs & PMAs) to convene regular meetings so that the process of implementation of the schemes and programs under 11th Plan, DDUGJY, PMDP, PFA and UDAY can be properly monitored and the requisite feedback got. He said it would ensure that they are completed on the fast track basis and bottlenecks if any, can be removed.
