Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency(NIA) on Thursday arrested Zahoor Ahmad in a funding case.Meanwhile Hurriyat Conference(G) has condemned raids by NIA several places including residential house of senior separatist leaders Mohammad Shafi Reshi and some leading businessmen in Kashmir valley.
In a statement, NIA said it arrested Watali in connection with case number RC-10/17/2017/NIA/DLI pertaining to funding of separatist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. “His arrest follows the searches conducted by the NIA on 16.08.2017 at multiple locations in Srinagar, Handwara, Kupwara and Baramulla belonging to the relatives and employees of Zahoor Watali,” said the statement.
NIA said that “highly incriminating material” was recovered during the searches.
“Earlier, on 3rd June, 2017, the NIA had searched Zahoor Watali’s house in Srinagar and seized incriminating documents pertaining to several financial transactions and land deals. The property documents seized have shown huge amount of cash transactions in sale & purchase,” said the statement. He will be produced before the Special NIA Judge at Patiala House Courts tomorrow, added the statement.
Meanwhile Hurriyat Conference(G) has strongly condemned the arbitrary and coercive act of raiding the house of Huriyat leader Adv Mohamad Shafi Reshi and some members of business community and respectable citizens by the NIA and said that it is folly being played by authorities to harass and scare the resistance leadership from representing the people’s sentiments and their just political struggle.
Hurriyat said although nothing objectionable were seized or recovered from the residence of Altaf Ahmed Shah, Peer Saif ullah, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Meraj-u-Din and Shahid-ul-Islam, however all these arbitrary measures are hired just to malign resistance movement and to implicate them in fabricated cases.
Hurriyat Conference said people are mature enough to understand and that it is psychological crackdown against resistance camp just to make them scare.
It won’t dampen our resolve and aspirations and will pursue our mission till its logical end, said Hurriyat and added that people also know that such arm twisting tactics to scare the leadership and malign them by the New Delhi and their local stooges are attempts to take away the focus from the actual prevailing situtaions in state and distort the narrative of the Kashmir dispute.
Huriyat said that we want to get these resulutions implemented which India has pledged at international forums.
Whosoever reminds about the right to self-determination promised with us or raises his voice for suppressed people, is either killed or implicated in fabricated cases, added Huriyat.
Lashing at PDP, Huriyat said that their rhetoric and parroting about “Goli Nahi Boli’’& ‘’battle of ideas’’ proved fraud and hoax and instead resorted to unbridled coercive force against unarmed civilians and facilitated NIA to implicate leadership in fraud and fictitious cases so that nobody dares to challenge their writ and object their plans of genocide campaign in state.
Huriyat in its statement cautioned people and asked to remain vigilant about sinister designs of New Delhi and their henchmen in state.
Hurriyat in its appeal to people asked to be vigilant about their follies and work wisely and intelligently.
