The Minister hoisted the National Flag at impressive functions held at Peerkho, City Chowk, Kachi Chawni, Mohalla Paharian and Pacca Danga in presence of scores of people from all walks of life.

Senior political and social leaders including Yudhvir Sethi accompanied the Minister.

Paying rich tributes to the freedom fighters, Priya Sethi said the nation owes gratitude to the great personalities who   secured freedom for their countrymen. She also paid tributes to the soldiers and security personnel who sacrificed their lives while guarding the borders, maintaining internal peace and protecting the sovereignty of the country.

Asserting that the nation is on the threshold of new era of progress and development, Priya Sethi highlighted various schemes launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appealed the people to take benefit of the same.

She said government has launched various schemes for women empowerment, youth and the impact is being felt on the ground.

Highlighting the uniqueness of India, she said, “Our country is known for its unity amidst diversity of religions, regions and culture and to touch new heights we have to strengthen the bonds of unity and brotherhood.”

Priya Sethi said the state of Jammu and Kashmir has overcome a long period of turmoil and is ushering into a new era of peace and development. “We all have to strive hard together for maintaining communal harmony and ensure that the benefits of development percolate down to each and every strata of society” she added.

Underlining the importance of sustained peace and amity in the state, she called upon all the stakeholders to rise above the caste and religion and focus on inclusive growth of one and all. “As democracy has given us fundamental rights, we also ought to fulfill our duties towards our society and nation” She said.

“We must also contribute to the PM’s Sankalp for new India and take the country forward to achieve the goal of corruption free and clean India” she asserted.

Priya Sethi also greeted people on Janmashtami   and hoped that the auspicious day would usher the state and country into new era of peace and progress.
