Srinagar: Taking a dig at government for detaining Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) office bearers going to hoist the National Flag in Srinagar, working president of the main opposition National Conference (NC) Omar Abdullah said it was “fixed match”.
He was reacting to reports that BJP Youth Wing National Vice President Aijaz Hussain and 250 other workers, planning a Tiranga Rally in Srinagar Tuesday, the 71st Independence Day (ID) were detained Monday night.
Taking to micro blogging site Twitter, former Chief Minsiter Abdullah said “ True definition of a fixed match. BJP Govt in J&K detains BJP office bearers going out to hoist the National Flag “.However, Abdullah has greeted people on the ID.
Mr Abdullah had earlier alleged that main coalition partner in the alliance government in the state PDP has compromised on Article 35 A to remain in power in the state.
He said that both BJP and PDP are different stand on the article but still enjoy power which is the only common thing among them.
Security forces had sealed all roads leading to historic Lal Chowk, the nerve centre of the city, where BJP workers had planned to organize the Tiranga rally today. Even media persons were not allowed to enter the area today.
