Bashrat stresses on promotion of agriculture, allied sectors at DDB meet at Poonch

Poonch:   Minister for Horticulture, Sayed Bashrat Ahamad Bukhari Monday chaired a meeting to review the progress of development works approved by District Development Board (DDB) Poonch.

The Horticulture Minister, who is also the chairman of DDB Poonch, also reviewed implementation of decisions taken in the board meeting and sector-wise physical and financial achievements registered in the district under district plan.

The meeting was attended by MLA Poonch- Haveli Shah Mohammad Tantry, MLA Surnkote, Ch Mohammad Akram, MLA Mendhar, Javid Ahmed Rana, MLC Dr Shehnaz Ganai, MLC Pardeep Sharama,  District Development Commissioner , Tariq Zargar, SSP Rajiv Kumar Panday, Chief engineers, SEs, HODs, district and Sectoral officers.

At the outset, the District Development Commissioner Tariq Zargar, presented a report with regard to the implementation of the decisions taken in the DDB meeting by the concerned departments.

The meeting was informed that against the allocation of approved budget of Rs 18482.88 lakh and release of Rs 5329.46 lakh, Rs 4039.50 lakh has been spent so far on various development programs till end of July 2017.

It was made out that against the released funds under MG-NREGA & Education sector, the district has recorded 90% & 70% percent expenditure respectively.

It was further informed that against the released Rs 453 lakh under Public works (Road & bridges) an expenditure of  Rs 104.18 lakh has been recorded so far, while against the total funds provided under  animal & sheep husbandry sector the district has registered 75% &,52% expenditure  respectively.

It was further informed that 15 km road has been blacktopped so for.

Speaking at the meeting, Bashrat Bukhari directed the officers to strictly implement all the decisions taken in the DDB meeting in letter and spirit to achieve desirable results under state and centrally sponsored development programs.

He asked the officers to submit the status report/DPRs of the works listed by the local legislators. He cautioned the officers against any laxity in this regard and said meeting the people’s aspirations is the priority of the Government.

Expressing dismay over the delay of execution of works specially roads, he warned strict action against the concerned Executive Engineers.

He asked developmental departments to put in extra efforts for judicious and effective utilization of funds and removing bottlenecks hindering developmental works.

The Minister directed the officers to ensure expeditious execution to extend the desired benefits to the people.

He also asked for keeping a strict check on quality of works adding that the efforts should be made to create durable assets catering to the area-specific developmental needs.

He stressed upon the officers and officials to remain present at their stations and come up to the expectations of the common man.

The Chairman stressed upon the concerned officers to achieve optimum results for development of core sectors in the district, with particular focus on agriculture and its allied sectors. He said department like handloom and handicrafts needs greater attention to explore more possibilities for bred & butter for the common man.

He underscored the need for paying focused attention on the improvement of road connectivity, augmentation of drinking water, power supply, education and healthcare facilities equally across the district.

On the occasion the chairman thanked & complemented Forest Minister, Ch. Lal Singh for extending cooperation in getting clearance of major held up PMGSY projects. He also appreciated the efforts of Agriculture Minister for getting DPRs approved for promotion of Rajmash, garlic and potato cultivation in the potential villages.

He directed the officers of agriculture and allied departments to effectively implement their schemes for the growth of the rural economy.

Earlier, local legislators raised various constituency specific development issues & sought attention & cooperation of the chairman for early resolution of the same.

Responding to the demands raised by legislators, the Minister directed the concerned officers to take appropriate action in this regard.

The meeting unanimously agreed to name 53 Km Mandi Phagal Road after legendary politician of Surnkote Late Ch Mohammad Aslam.
