CM meets Rajnath, to meet PM today

Before flying to Delhi Mehbooba discuss art 35 A row with Guv, Dy CM

Srinagar: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Thursday afternoon reached New Delhi Thursday and met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and will be meeting Prime Minister in the backdrop of political row over a petition in Supreme Court seeking scrapping of Article 35-A.
Mehbooba will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday and other leaders to discuss consequences of striking down of the article.
Local news gathering agency KNS quoted Works Minister and Government spokesman Nayeem Akhter as saying “The chief minister will meet Prime Minister tomorrow to apprise him of the importance of protection of Article 35-A for the interest of the state and the rest of the country”.
The CM called on Home Minister Rajnath Singh and apprised him of the situation in the valley and the row over the Article 35-A.
Mehbooba is also likely to meet leaders of other political parties over the issue of Article 35-A.
Before leaving for New Delhi, the CM met Governor N N Vohra Thursday morning.
Mehbooba called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan and briefed him about her Party’s views and the discussions which she has had with leaders of various political parties regarding threat to Article 35 A of the Constitution of India.
She had a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh on Wednesday evening at her Gupkar residence when the latter called on her.
“The two leaders discussed the issue of Article 35 A and its dangerous fallout in the state as well as in the country,” sources said.
Article 35 A ha created a row in the state, with the ruling PDP and Opposition political parties, NC, Congress and other independent leaders, showing unity for the protection of the Article and raising one voice against its scrapping.
The CM met NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah, PCC chief G A Mir, independent leaders My Tarigami, Hakeem Yaseen and Ghulam Hassan Mir.
“We are creating a consensus in Jammu and Kashmir with opposition parties,” Akhtar said.
Opposition political parties have suggested to Mehbooba to lead an All Party Delegation to the PM over the issue of the article 35 A
