Srinagar: Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development, Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, Asiea Naqash Thursday directed the officers to speed up the initiatives being undertaken under various State and Centrally sponsored schemes in the drainage sector so that effective augmentation of the already existing setup is undertaken in order to redress the problems faced by different localities of the Srinagar City.
The Minister was addressing officers at a meeting she chaired Thursday to review the progress of various drainage works in the City funded through Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and World Bank.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary H&UD Hirdesh Kumar, officers of SMC, UEED, and H&UD and other concerned officers.
During the meeting work on Rs 21.03 crore Storm Water Drainage scheme Indira Nagar, Rs 8.49 crore Storm Water Drainage works MallaBagh, Phase I, Rs 10.68 crore Storm Water Drainage scheme Lal Chowk, and Rs 11.93 crore Storm Water Drainage scheme Gang Bugh was reviewed threadbare.
The Minister asked the officers to redouble their efforts to ensure completion of the developmental projects within the stipulated time so that effective drainage mechanism is put in place in the City.
She also stressed on expediting de-silting works and cleaning of the city drains on priority to ensure visible improvement in City drainage system.
