Srinagar: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Civil Defense, Home Guards and SDRF, L. Mohanti, Thursday felicitated the Civil Defense/ SDRF team for winning gold medal in the 3rd White Water rafting marathon held at Wussan Ganderbal recently.
While interacting with the award winning team, the ADGP said sports activities have a positive role on the holistic development of a person and such activities will harness positivity among the youth.
The Rafting Marathon was organized by the Tourism Department in collaboration with Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir (ATOAK) on August 3, in which 13 teams had participated.
The ADGP also felicitated the team with cash reward and distributed the Commendation certificates among Team members included Javed Ahmad Tinda, Irfan Hussain, Sajad Hussain Mattoo, Mohamad Akbar Akhoon, Irfan Tinda, Waseem Hussain Akhoon, and Aqib Hussain Akhoon.
11 teams, including teams from Kashmir University, Central University of Kashmir, Islamia College, Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir, Tourism Department, J&K Ski & Mountaineering Association, J&K Mountaineering and Hiking Club and Kashmir Rafting Operators Association of Kashmir had participated and the team from Civil Defence/SDRF had stood first.
Director Disaster Management, Aamir Ali and Commandant SDRF Bashir Ahmad Sofi were also present on the occasion.
