Srinagar/Aug,7: The gunfight between militants and government forces in Samboora area of Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has ended with the killing of a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant, a police official said Monday morning
He however said that Two militants are believed to have escaped from the site of the gunfight.
Giving details about the encounter the official said that the firefight ended around 3 am. “The body of the Lashkar militant, a resident of Pakistan, has been recovered,” he said.
The firefight started late last night after army and police cordoned off the area following inputs about the presence of militants.
However, clashes erupted after youth took to streets and pelted forces with stone to help the militants escape.
A protester has reportedly been injured during the clashes.
