Srinagar/Aug,4: The “unidentified person” killed in a firing incident at Kanelwan, Bijbehara last night has been identified as a civilian from Arwani Bejbehara, officials said.
Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat, son of Mohammad Yousuf, a resident of Arwini was killed at Herpora Kanelwan Karvel Anantnag during an operation launched by government forces. His body was handed over to his family for burial, the official said.
Sources said Bhat was a labourer.
Police, earlier, claimed that an unidentified person was “mysteriously in the area and was caught in crossfire and killed.”
“Cut-off party of Army retaliated [to the] fire. Later on, it was learnt one individual riding a motorcycle Yamaha Libero (JK13-527?) with erased last numeral got killed in cross firing,” said a police official.
“No material leading to identity or I-card could be retrieved. Two mobile phones (Nokia 1209) and Jivi-N300 were seized from the said individual,” he said.
