DC Jmu reviews arrangements for I- Day celebrations

Amid dry, hot and humid weather, hundreds of people including men, women and children mostly bare foot visited the revered suffi Saint Shrine Sheikh Noor-Ud-Wali popularly known as Nund Resh at Charar-e- Sharief in Budgam district on Sunday for prayers to seek rainfall to end the drought season in Kashmir valley. Jammu: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan Thursday convened a meeting to discuss the arrangements for Independence Day celebrations.

He took a detailed review of the arrangements being put in place by the concerned departments for the smooth conduct of the event.

He directed to ensure adequate security, parking and traffic management plan and directed the health authorities to ensure adequate proper medicare facilities and staff.

The Deputy Commissioner directed PDD and PHE to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply while fire services department was asked to keep available fire tenders at the venue. He also directed JMC to ensure proper sanitation in and around the venue along with the mobile toilet vans.

Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned to make adequate logistic arrangements for the practice sessions for the march past and cultural programs. He asked concerned department to work in tandem to ensure that all necessary arrangements are made in a time bound manner to make the celebration of National function a grand success.

Additional District Development Commissioner Anuradha Gupta, SSP traffic Nisha Nathyal and other senior officers of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.
