Srinagar/Aug 3 :Two militants were in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday killed in an encounter with government forces in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
A police official said army’s 9 RR and SOG had laid an ambush in Gopalpora village in DH Pora following a tip off about the movement of some militants in the area.
“As the militants the village and reached the place where the forceshad laid the ambush , they were challenged after which a fierce gun battle took place between the forces and the militants in which two militants have been killed”, the official said.
He said that both the bodies have been recovered along with as many AK 47 and their identity are being ascertained.
Meanwhile, in wake of the gunfight, authorities have blocked internet services including 2G/3G/4G in south Kashmir.
