Asiea reviews progress of Hazratbal shrine expansion project

Amid dry, hot and humid weather, hundreds of people including men, women and children mostly bare foot visited the revered suffi Saint Shrine Sheikh Noor-Ud-Wali popularly known as Nund Resh at Charar-e- Sharief in Budgam district on Sunday for prayers to seek rainfall to end the drought season in Kashmir valley. Srinagar: Minister of State for Housing & Urban Development Social Welfare, Health & Medical Education, Asiea Naqash, convened a meeting to review the progress of the renovation and beautification of Hazratbal shrine project here Wednesday.

Vice-Chairman Lakes and Waterways Development Authority, Dr AH Shah, SDM Srinagar, Hanief Balkhi, Additional Secretary Tourism, Gulzar Ahmad Shah, M.D Cable Car Corporation and other senior officers attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Minister discussed various components regarding the beautification of the shrine in detail with the concerned officials to bring about the time bound results. The Minister asked the officials to expedite the work on Rs 45 crore beautification project so that it can be completed within the stipulated period.

While emphasizing upon augmenting the efforts in removing the bottlenecks,  Naqash said timely completion of this project would give a facelift to the shrine and its adjoining areas.

Stressing on meeting the set deadline, the Minister directed the officials to speed up the process of construction so that the basic structure of every component will get ready by the end of this month.
To facilitate the devotees, who throng the shrine in large numbers, she asked the officials to chalk out a comprehensive plan for establishing tensile structures, proper signage, shopping kiosks, ablution places etc.

She called for synergized efforts to follow the original DPR of the shrine project and asked the officials to make optimal use of resources to pace up the work.

The Minister was informed that the work on ablution centre has already begun and progress on other components is going on in full swing.
