New Delhi:Outgoing Pakistan envoy to India Abdul Basit on Tuesday said that Hizb-ul-Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin was struggling for right to self-determination of Kashmiris.
“Whatever he (Salahuddin) is doing is seen in Pakistan and in J&K that he is struggling for right to self determination,” said Basit.
He said that Pakistan has criticized the decision of the United States to designate him as a “global terrorist”.
“Syed Salahuddin is not a terrorist as far as Pakistan or people of Jammu and Kashmir are concerned. We criticize this decision on part of US,” said Basit, as reported by an online news web portal based in Delhi.
He also rubbished the allegations against the separatist leaders in Kashmir of receiving funds to sponsor subversive activities.
“Such allegations were made in past against Hurriyat but nothing came out, don’t know where will these investigations go,” he said.
