Jammu: Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Department of Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi conducted an extensive city tour here Tuesday.
The Minister inspected the ongoing work for upgradation of Ramleela Theatre complex at Deewana Mandir, Panjtirthi.
The Minister said Ramleela has been performed since ages and the theatre is acting as a bridge to connect people with their cultural identity. She directed the concerned officers to regularly monitor and ensure the time bound completion of the work while maintaining the quality.
The Minister assessed the condition of the Temple and asked the concerned officers to put in place a proper mechanism for the development of the same. She also directed the officials from JMC to maintain cleanliness around the Temple.
During the tour, the Minister laid foundation stone for park in Gujjar Nagar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said parks besides improving the physical and psychological health also reflect the quality of life in a community and makes a neighborhood more attractive place to live. She directed the concerned authority to identify more areas where parks can be developed to provide a healthy environment to the locals.
The Minister said the government is working with a vision to make Jammu a hub of tourism. In this regard, she elaborated various schemes like project of Musical Fountain and Laser Show being established with an estimated cost of Rs. 6.50 crore at Bagh-e-Bahu and the Ropeway project which is expected to be completed in the month of March,2018 and multiple parking at Peerkho costing Rs.20 crore, which is in pipeline.
The Minister said the Centre government has approved a package of Rs.2000 crore for Tourism development, out of those, around Rs.280 crore worth projects have already been sanctioned.
Later, the Minister held public redressal grievances camp and took stock of people’s issues. She directed the concerned officials to take necessary measures to sort these issues of the locals.
Priya assured the locals that their long pending demand for a community centre will be considered at the earliest.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA East, Rajesh Gupta, Director Tourism, Smita Sethi , Senior Leader, Yudhvir Sethi besides senior functionaries of Tourism Department and Jammu Municipal Corporation.
