Srinagar: Asserting that Judiciary is a crucial organ of the Republic, which interprets the Constitution and the laws of the land, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra said if the Legislature and Executive fail to perform their constitutional duties, the citizens look to the higher courts for justice being rendered. “Our Constitution secures to all citizen Justice: social, economic, and political and the superior judiciary has to play a very important role in this regard,” Mr Vohra said after inaugurating a newly constructed District Court Complex at Mominabad, Srinagar. In this context, the Governor stressed that the establishment of a National Law School in J&K would be of enormous benefit. The Governor observed that eminent representatives of the legal fraternity could play a very useful role if people at large were made aware of the correct constitutional provisions. This, he said would ensure against avoidable misperceptions which engender tensions. He stressed that an amicable and trustworthy environment is engendered if governance is delivered with efficiency, honesty and accountability. Meanwhile, congratulating the Chief Justice, Judges of the High Court and the judicial fraternity for taking ownership of this spacious and aesthetically designed Court Complex building, the Governor expressed happiness on being associated with the inaugural function of this sprawling 2.5 lakh sq ft complex constructed on an area of over 30 acres. He observed that the majesty of law is also associated with the premises from where it is exercised and hoped that the creation of this beautiful asset will go a long way in the judges rendering prompt and transparent justice.
