Baramulla: A special camp on 2nd phase of Interactive School Engagement for future voters was held here Saturday at Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla.
Students in the age group of 15 and above participated in the camp organized by District Election Officer Baramulla. The program was a part of the 7th National Voters Day-2017, with the theme ‘Empowering Young and Future Voters’.
Interacting with the students, the DEO Baramulla highlighted the importance of the program and stated that the district administration’s endeavour is to achieve 100 percent electoral coverage. He encouraged young and eligible first-time voters to come forward for electoral registration and be a part of strengthening the democracy.
An intense question- answer session ensued with prospective voters clarifying their doubts by putting forward queries. The officials present elucidated upon all related aspects including the process for application of EPIC and its procurement.
Besides students of concerned schools, many other groups of youth attended the 2nd phase of interactive school engagement for future voters.
The Program initiated by ECI primarily focuses on future voters studying in schools, with an aim to sensitize them about registration and voting procedure in particular through demonstrations, like power point presentations.
Among others, Tehsildar Baramulla Maeen Kakroo, Principal GHSS, Coordinator NYK, NT, Election, Concerned officials, and Students were present on the occasion.
