Leh: Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof. Amitabh Mattoo, Friday had a special interaction with the 14th Dalai Lama at Jivetsal, Choglamsar Leh.
Prof. Mattoo, who is heading a Working Group for improving education standard of J&K under ‘Knowledge Initiative’ briefed Dalai Lama about the steps taken by Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to improve the educational scenario of the State.
He sought suggestion and guidance from His Holiness to help them realize the dream of bringing educational reforms in the State.
His Holiness appreciated Prof. Matoo’s initiative and stated that he was pleased to see the reforms initiated to improve the education scenario in the State.
Prof. Mattoo informed His Holiness that Working Group has drafted a curriculum based on secular ethics education that would be purely an academic subject.
His Holiness stressed on the need for revival of ancient knowledge along with modern education in order to revive inner peace. He stated that India can play a significant role in bringing world peace.
During the conversation Dalai Lama assured to extend his support and help through coordinated and collaborative efforts in achieving the vision of reforming education system in J&K state.
